Dogus Construction Group selects Nexans cables to power new Istanbul Metroline

Dogus Construction Group has chosen Nexans to supply LV and MV Alsecure cables for Istanbul's new Metroline, establishing an additional 20km of rail to service the city's suburbs. As a result of the initial specification study, Nexans will supply both low voltage and medium voltage Alsecure cables for the 563 million Euro project commissioned by Istanbul Municipality (IBB).

Nexans created a tailor-made solution for the Istanbul Metroline project with enhanced mechanical protection for the cables, rodent proof outer sheathing and robust fire testing.

Cables deliveries will be scheduled throughout the year in installments, with each lot being delivered within six weeks. The project will be completed by 2017.

The new line will include 16 additional stops to the existing Metroline network, and will take 24 minutes to travel from the centre of Istanbul to the suburbs. It will be able to carry 65,000 passengers an hour in each direction, serving the city's growing suburban districts.
