Universal Cable is a public-listed cable and wire manufacturer established in March 1967. Since our inception, we have always been committed to what are most important to you: safety, quality and customer satisfaction. This has been the catalyst of our tremendous growth, expanding operations from our first manufacturing plant in Tampoi, Johor to three others in Pandan, Plentong and Nilai today.We are also the single largest cable and wire manufacturer in Malaysia and the Asean region.

At Universal Cable, we are fully-equipped to manufacture cables and wires for many different industries. This includes for power generation, transmission & distribution, oil & gas, marine & shipboard, telecommunication, control & instrumentation, automotive industries as well as commercial and housing developments.


Our portfolio also includes cables for instrumentation and for distribution of electricity from main power generators all the way to the electricity sockets we use on a daily basis.

Our Manufacturing Capacity

Currently, Universal Cable has four manufacturing plants located in Tampoi, Pandan, Plentong and Nilai. All four plants are on-par with international manufacturing standards and are equipped with industry-best cabling technology and trained manpower.

These facilities pave way for the production of various types of cables and wires, and provide us with the capacity to manufacture customised solutions for our industrial clients.

Tampoi Plant



Established in 1967, the Tampoi plant is where most of our aluminium-based products are made. A specialisation that has even put Universal Cable on the map for aluminium-based cables in local and international markets.

Pandan Plant



Since operations commenced in the 1980s, our Pandan plant has churned out a wide range of products for diverse industries from power and telecommunications to oil & gas.

Plentong Plant



Universal Cable's Plentong plant commenced operations in 1995 and is specially-equipped to manufacture cables that are high in demand by authorities of electricity supply.

Type of cables manufactured: Medium Voltage and High Voltage cables up to 275kV, with maximum conductor size of up to 2500mm² for both Copper and Aluminum conductors.

We understand that there may not be a 'one size fits all' solution when it comes to industrial cables and wires. To accommodate the different requirements of various clients, Universal Cable also provides cable customisation services.
