Division



RPG Cables, KEC's cables business unit, is one of the leading fully integrated cable manufacturers in India. It has been serving the industry for over 50 years and has maintained its position as a high quality cable manufacturer through its focus on customer needs, technology and innovation. It currently manufactures a wide range of power cables including control, instrumentation, LT, HT, EHV cables and Telecom cables including optical fiber cables and jelly filled copper cables. It also provides end-to-end turnkey cabling solutions involving cable laying, jointing, testing and commissioning.

RPG Cables' manufacturing units are located at Silvassa, Mysore and Vadodara and are accredited with ISO 9001 (all three facilities), ISO 14001 (Mysore and Silvassa) and OHSAS 18001 (Mysore) certifications. The company has been regarded as a quality supplier and pioneer in technological innovation. RPG Cables introduced XLPE cables in India and was amongst the first three companies to manufacture EHV cables in India.

With its persistent focus on growth the company has set up a World Class facility at Vadodara (Gujarat, India) to manufacture HT and EHV cables up to 220 kV. The new plant is equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing and testing facilities sourced from international domain experts to maintain highest standards of quality and safety. The plant is capable of manufacturing corrugated Aluminum sheath and Milliken conductor with conductor cross-sections up to 2000 sq mm with a triple-extrusion insulation line. The plant has an installed capacity of 3,600 cable kilometers annually and has been designed for capacity expansion in the future.

The Vadodara facility has been awarded 'Platinum' rating Green Facility certification from the Indian Green Building Council for its sustainability initiatives in and around the facility. It is India's first Cable manufacturing plant to receive this honour.

RPG Cables is also one of the leading telecom cables manufacturers in India providing tailored offerings as per market demands. Its telecom exports have now reached over 25 countries across Africa, South Asia and the Middle East.

RPG Cables has an extensive sales network across the country with sales offices and authorized dealers to serve its customers' needs. It has a dedicated team for exports covering over 40 countries. RPG Cables' brand is approved with all major utilities, EPC companies and electrical consultants in India.

Manufacturing facilities in India:

Vadodara
Manufactures a range of High Voltage and Extra High Voltage Cables
Vadodara has the capacity to manufacture upto 220kv cables and boasts of several 'Firsts' including:

Silvassa
Manufactures a range of Low Voltage Cables
The Silvassa unit manufactures LV Cables since the year 2000. XLPE/PVC insulated cables are manufactured upto 1000sqmm(Single Core) and 630sqmm(Multi Core) conforming to IS, IEC and BS standards. Special cables ,as per user requirement, such as screened drive cables, XLPE insulated Fire Survival Cables etc are also manufactured.

Mysore
Manufactures a range of Control & Instrumentation Cables, Low Voltage Cables and Telecom Cables
The Mysore unit manufactures LV Cables upto 1000sqmm(Single Core) and 630 sqmm(Multi Core) conforming to IS, IEC and BS standards. Special cables, as per user requirement , such as screened drive cables, XLPE insulated Fire Survival Cables etc are also manufactured. Over the years, the cables manufactured at Mysore have been exported to several countries.

Installed Capacity : 12,000km/year(Low Tension), Instrumentation – 4,200 km/year,OFC- 0.365 million fkm/year, Jelly Filled Telecom Cables- 0.6 million ckm/year.

Milestones



To meet the ever growing demands of our clients is our priority. Using the latest technology, we make sure that you are provided with the best cables to meet your requirement. In this endeavor and journey, we have achieved many milestones and these include:

1959       :    Asian Cables was incorporated to produce house wiring cable in collaboration with Enfield Cables, U.K under Kotak Management.
1961       :    Asian Cable plant was inaugurated.
1965       :    Power Cable and Magnet Wire projects were commissioned in collaboration with Phelps Dodge of the United States.
1966       :    The Goenkas took over Asian Cables.
1978       :    Became the pioneer in the manufacture of XLPE cables in India.       
1985       :    Started Greenfield facility at Mysore to manufacture Jelly Filled Telecom Cables
1991       :    Converted the steam cure XLPE Line to Dry Cure Line in order to manufacture EHV Cables upto 132 kV voltage grade.
1993       :    132 kV cable production started.     
1994       :    Received  a  Certificate  of  Approval  for  ISO 9002  covering  all types of Cables including XLPE Cables up to 132 kV.
1995       :    Formed the Contracts division and executed 66 kV Laying and Installation works at GEB.   
1995       :    Entered in to collaboration for the manufacture of  EHV  Cables with the world renowned Cable Manufacturers, BICC CABLES, U.K.
1997       :    The company merged with RPG Telecom Ltd., Mysore and was renamed as RPG Cables Limited.
1999       :    Ministry of Commerce accorded Star Trading Status for export Performance.   
2000       :    LT Power Cables manufacturing Unit Inaugurated at Silvassa  Re Launched house wiring Cables.     
2001       :    Received Certificate of Approval for ISO 14001 - 1996 in Environmental Management System.
2002       :    Received RPG Organisational Excellence Award   
2009       :    Received EEPC Export Performance award
2009       :    Received the logistics 2.0 supply chain award.
2010       :    Received Certificate of Approval for ISO 14001 - 2004 in Environmental Management System.
2010       :    Merged with KEC International Ltd from April 2010
