From a modest beginning with Wires & Cables, over four decades ago Polycab set up State-of-Art manufacturing facilities at Daman in 1996. In the manufacture of cables, a competitive edge lies not so much in product innovation as in consistent quality and ready availability. Polycab's Daman & Vadodara Manufacturing facilities on 250 acres of land was created to address these key market determinants.

Polycab's History

After owning a small retail stores, two brothers decided to expand their areas of interest into manufacturing and started Polycab's. Their entrepreneurial skills are what have lead to the business growing into one of the most successful and well liked businesses in just 38 years.

In 1968, Polycab's began selling cables in Mumbai, making it the city that never sleeps.


Polycab's success in Mumbai allowed them to open a factory in Mumbai in 1972 to make Low Voltage Cables. Soon, the city evolved to the only city in India that never experiences power cuts!


A unit was set up in Andheri, one of Mumbai's popular suburbs in order to manufacture more Low Voltage Cables



Polycab's managed to prove itself a highly reliable brand and was granted permission to expand its business. In 1984, a larger unit was set up in Halol, Gujrat, to produce more Low Voltage cables.


Low Voltage Cable units were set up in Daman, Gujarat.


Their expansive success lead to an annual sale worth USD 8 Million (48 Crore) and the further expansion of the business into manufacturing Building Wires and Flexible Wires in Daman.


The manufacturing of a Medium Voltage cable plant was commissioned in Daman, Gujarat.


Polycab set a new benchmark in the world of market leadership by crossing a turnover of USD 214 million (INR 1070 crores).


Became the epitome of market leadership in all segments with a turnover of USD 275 million (INR 1375 crores).


Polycab was valued at a whopping USD 1 billion after IFC invested USD 90 million (INR 400 crores).


Polycab established itself as India's No.1 Cable and Wire manufacturing company with a sales turnover of USD 900 million (INR 4350 crore) and an impressive market share of 22%.
