A success story made in Austria


Founded in 1940 as a commercial agency for raw materials and semi-finished products, Gebauer & Griller quickly became a production plant which operates worldwide today. As an Austrian family business we are committed to our unchanged constant values - the spirit of innovation, competence and reliability.


In the 1940s the former commercial agency quickly turns into a production facility for jumper and resistance wires. The latter are still produced in Linz.


The 1950s are dominated by a concentration on the cable and wire production in Vienna. The systematic extension of the product range is accompanied by a constant modernization of the production facilities.


In the 1960s Gebauer & Griller is already the leading supplier of thermoplastic-insulated cables and wires in Austria. The company develops and produces the country's first operative underwater telephone cable with plastic insulation.


The 1970s open a new sales market for Gebauer & Griller: As a specialist for plastic-insulated wires the company becomes an important partner of the automotive industry. A second location is established and quickly expanded in Poysdorf.


The 1980s bring a burst of development: development and production of telecommunication cables and lift control wires in Vienna, state-of-the-art PVC compounding installation at the Poysdorf facility, optimization of copper fine wire production in Linz.


The nineties are dominated by the manufacture of cable harnesses: The subsidiaries Kabelkonfektion and Kabeltechnik (Czech Republic) are founded. The introduction of a comprehensive quality management system leads to the first cable works worldwide to be certified in accordance with VDA 6.1. The complete cable and wire production is relocated to Poysdorf.


The new millennium is welcomed with further expansions and product innovations. Aluminum battery harnesses reach series maturity for the first time worldwide. The constant development culminates in a new company-owned development and competence center in Poysdorf, which is opened in 2008.

At the Linz location a new coating tower is built in 2009. With the specially developed flat tinned wires for photovoltaic producers Gebauer & Griller also introduces its know-how of the working of copper and surface finishing to this future-oriented industry.
