Manufacturing Facilities

Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the UAE include Ducab Jebel Ali, Ducab Mussafah 1 Factory, Ducab Mussafah 2 Factory, Copper Rod Factory and High Voltage (HV) Cable Systems Factory (Opening end 2010). With five manufacturing facilities, we have a manufacturing capability of over 110,000 copper tonnes of high, medium and low voltage cables  per annum.

Jebel Ali

Headquarters with a total area of 590,000 sq meters - manufacturing a range of High Voltage cables up to 132 kV, Medium Voltage cables, Low Voltage cables, Instrumentation and Control cables. Officially opened in 1979 by the Former Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Has one of the longest CCV lines in the world - manufacturing High Voltage Cables up to 132 kV and Medium Voltage Cables Systems from 11 kV and 33 kV

PVC Facility

With a modern PVC compounding plant at its Jebel Ali facility, Ducab produces flexible PVC compounds used for insulating and sheathing of electric cables. The plant includes automated weighing and dosing systems for each component of the various formulations. A centralised control system, which includes a dedicated video graphic display system, facilitates user-friendly operation of the whole plant while maintaining accurate control of each component.

Ducab HV

Ducab HV (DHV) is the first dedicated high voltage (60kV – 150kV) and extra high voltage (220kV – 500kV) power cable manufacturing facility in the Middle East. The company is a joint venture between Ducab Group (50%); Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA – 25%) and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA – 25%).

The DHV facility is a state of the art plant employing the latest machinery and technology available to produce HV and EHV cable. In order for the factory to maximise its resources and produce world's best practice within a reliable and repeatable process it was decided at the outset to also align with an experienced cable technology partner.

HV and EHV manufacturing technology has been in existence since the 1960's when Japanese cable makers were the first to produce XLPE insulated cables in these voltage ranges. A natural fit with a technology leader has therefore now also been cemented with the signing of a technology transfer agreement between DHV and J-Power Systems (a Japanese joint venture company bringing together the combined HV and EHV power cable expertise of Hitachi and Sumitomo).
The combined experience, technology and know-how brought together by DHV's facilities, its shareholders and its engagement with its technology partner culminate in making it a formidable player in the power cable market. The company draws on the best available resources worldwide and looks forward to bringing its customer base Energy at a Higher Level.

The DHV plant was formally inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai on 29 November 2011 and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Ducab holds strong values and ethics. It has been operating its business responsibly since its inception in 1979. Ducab has therefore been practicing corporate social responsibility (CSR) in many areas of its business since a very long time. In 2012, Ducab decided to formalize its CSR initiatives in various areas of business and identify gaps between its existing systems and the international & local standards on CSR. Ducab adopted the Dubai Chamber CSR Label assessment tool to conduct a self-assessment on its level of CSR commitment. CSR Label assessment tool was chosen since it is based on international standards & best practices and tailored to the Middle East specifically to Dubai and the UAE. Ducab also participated in the CSR Label award cycles in 2012 & 2013 and received the award both the times proving its strong commitment to CSR.

Ducab has mapped its CSR initiatives based on the four impact areas outlined in the Dubai Chamber CSR model – Workplace, Marketplace, Community & Environment. Some examples of Ducab's initiatives as follows:
'POWER OVER FIRE' Caring for the community

With  the  prime  objective  to  raise  the  awareness  about various  fire  safety  hazards  that  can potentially cause building fires, Ducab launched the memorable PowerOverFire road show jointly with UAE Civil Defence in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The secondary objective of the campaign was to effectively communicate that LPCB approved Ducab FlamBICC (range of fire resistant wires and cables) gives you the strength and power to prevent the threat of fire. At the same time, it invites and encourages the local community to come and get information on how to prevent fires generally.

Building the Nation

Ducab has a well-structured Emiratisation Program. UAE Nationals are recruited, trained & developed not only for office positions but also for shop floor positions.

Work-Life Balance - Key to Employee Wellbeing & Business Profitability

Ducab aims at generating a sustainability report based on international standards in the near future.Ducab strongly believes that sustainability takes root only when Economic, Social and Environmental practices align together to generate a triple bottom line (People-Planet-Profit) for the business.
