FAQ About Cable / What is the adiabatic equation...
Last post by tacettin - February 23, 2024, 09:59:19 AM
What is the adiabatic equation for cables?

When calculating the fault ratings of a cable, it is generally assumed that the duration is short enough that no heat is dissipated by the cable to the surroundings.  Adopting this approach simplifies the calculation and errs on the safe side.

The normally used equation is the so-called adiabatic equation.  For a given fault of I, which lasts for time t, the minimum required cable cross-sectional area is given by:

t = (A^2*k^2)/I^2

where:    A - the nominal cross-section area, mm2
        I - the fault current in, A
        t -  duration of fault current, s
k - a factor dependant on cable type (see below)

The factor k is dependant on the cable insulation, allowable temperature rise under fault conditions, conductor resistivity and heat capacity.  Typical values of k are:

FAQ About Cable / What is a trailing or reeling ...
Last post by tacettin - January 22, 2024, 02:15:14 PM
What is a trailing or reeling cable?

Trailing and reeling cables are electrical power cables for mobile apparatus, such as large excavators, draglines, stackers and reclaimers. The cable allows the mobile apparatus to move without disconnecting its electric power supply.

A reeling cable is specifically designed to be frequently reeled on and off a cable drum or reeler (e.g. an iron ore rail-mounted reclaimer), whereas a trailing cable is specifically designed to be moved with the mobile apparatus (e.g. a coal mine dragline, mineral sands mobile processing plant).

Plastic Supplier / Epaflex Polyurethanes Spa
Last post by tacettin - January 22, 2024, 09:16:31 AM

Epaflex Polyurethanes Spa

Epaflex was established in 1991 as a system house specialised in the production of polyurethane systems for the footwear industry. Over the years, Epaflex's business has expanded further and diversified, first with the second line of products, Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) granules and then with the production of Polyureas, Polyaspartates, Prepolymers and spray foams for insulation. Together with Elachem SpA, Epaflex forms part of an industrial group which recently set up a major chemical plant for the production of resins.
All of the polyesters used for Epaflex spray foams are produced by Elachem to permit precise control of the quality of the raw materials and a level of competitiveness to meet the needs of the market.
