Copper down 1.1% on global cues

Tracking a weak global trend, copper prices fell by 1.12% to Rs 401 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in August fell by Rs 4.55, or 1.12%, to Rs 401 per kg in business turnover of 3,344 lots.

In a similar fashion, copper for delivery in June declined by Rs 4.35, or 1.09%, to Rs 396.45 per kg in 23,503 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to a weak global trend.

Meanwhile, copper fell 0.6% to $6,631.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
