The HEW-KABEL Group

HEW-KABEL is a medium-sized company in Wipperfürth, 50 km east of Cologne. We employ more than 300 people in research and development, production and sales, whose qualifications are always kept up to date through continuous training. Our internal processes are subject to the strictest quality management system and are optimally coordinated with one another. From technical design to production to sales, we offer everything from one source.

Using its know-how and experience gained over years, HEW-KABEL designs, develops and manufactures customer specific cable solutions for various industrial market segments, where miniaturization, flexibility or special durability are required. Fields of application include the automotive industry, the aerospace industry, medical equipment, robotics, instrumentation and control technology, sensor technology, traffic technology, high frequency technology as well as Mechanical Engineering.

In addition, the group's product portfolio also includes silicone compounds (offered by SiC Compound).

Philosophy

Innovations attach great importance to HEW-KABEL and traditionally provide valuable impulses to the development of advanced methods and technology.

We operate with a consistent management system in our company to guarantee the best product quality. Where conventional machines are reaching their limits, we work with in-house developments which are not available in this form anywhere else. These individual machines rely on our decades of experience and know-how and allow our specially qualified staff to offer a high degree of quality, precision and safety. Besides the production process and technical design the choice of material is crucial for the functionality and lifetime of a cable. HEW-KABEL possesses this expertise. It is demonstrated by its own silicone compounding (SiC Compound GmbH), in specially engineered (expanded) PTFE tapes as well as in a wide range of special materials which satisfy e.g. exacting requirements in terms of biocompatibility. The spectrum of products and services offered by HEW-KABEL is completed by an internal test lab. Here it is possible to measure the main quality and performance parameters and to put our cables to the acid test.

Enviroment

With respect to the environment, we want to reduce our energy and raw material consumption as well as avoid toxic substances, noise emissions and are trying to recycle our waste if possible.

Environmental Policy - ISO 14001

Economic activity and innovative design often go hand in hand with interventions in nature's processes. As part of the global ecological system we conceive of our daily activities as a contribution to the maintenance of the ecological balance and the preservation of biodiversity within this system. As a commercial enterprise we acknowledge our special responsibility and are prepared to do our share to preserve the natural conditions of life.

For this reason, HEW-KABEL has introduced an efficient environmental management system in accordance with the international DIN ISO 14001 standard. This system ensures continual improvements in environmental performance and environmental protection. We monitor its effectiveness with regular audits.

As regards new products and production methods we already begin taking the demands of environmental protection into account in the development and testing phase. In the planning of our production methods as well as the installation and operation of our technical equipment, we strive to employ only the best available technology. We, moreover, take advantage of every opportunity to conserve energy and raw materials to avoid or reduce pollutants and noise emission, and to recycle waste. We utilize reusable material in the appropriate manner and dispose of no longer usable materials in accordance with the regulations. We proactively monitor and control our technical systems and methods as well as the air, water, soil, waste and noise.

Within our value creation process we not only meet the legal requirements, but impose even more stringent standards on ourselves in many areas of our own accord. We have, moreover, voluntarily committed ourselves to adhere to more demanding standards of sustainable corporate management than are required by law.

Every one of our company's employees is expected to contribute actively to environmental protection. We encourage environmental action on the part of our employees by providing information and training courses. All of our workplaces are geared to the preventive protection of our employees' health and safety. Our employees are continually reminded of their responsibility to perform their activities safely.
