Fluid immersion – Acid and alkaline resistance

Test Method: IEC60811-2-1
Requirements: Tensile Strength: ±30% maximum change. Ultimate Elongation: 100% minimum.
Procedure: Samples of at least 600mm are bent into "U" loops of a diameter approximately 10 times the outside diameter. These samples are then
placed in the following fluids at the following temperatures for 168h with the ends protruding out of the fluid.

Fluids Temperature

Oxalic Acid 23°C
NaOH 23°C

After the conditioning period, the samples are removed from the fluids and left at ambient temperature for 16 hours. Samples are then tested for tensile strength and elongation at break. Percentage retention of these properties, compared to control values, shall then be calculated.
