Tappan Wire & Cable was founded in 1978 as a manufacturer of specialty wire and cable for the communications and computer industries. From a company that began in a 25,000 square foot plant located in Tappan NY, to our current 150,000 square foot modern manufacturing and stocking facility in Blauvelt, NY, Tappan Wire & Cable has continued to grow to meet the market demands for wire and cable in the Industrial, Security, and Communications Industries.

On July 22, 2010 Southwire Company announced that it had purchased Tappan.  "This acquisition further strengthens our ability to provide world-class service to our customers", said Stuart Thorn, President and CEO of Southwire Company.  "Southwire can now leverage Tappan's ability to respond to requests for custom products, pricing and availability in the cord, telecom and electronics product category.  By integrating Tappan's products and manufacturing abilities within Southwire, we will be better positioned to meet the needs of our channel partners and customers," said Thorn.
