about Hitachi Cable

Originally founded in 1918 as Densen Works to manufacture wires, cables and copper products on the premises of Hitachi Ltd., Hitachi Cable became an independent spin-off of Hitachi in 1956. Since then, it has played a pivotal role within the Hitachi Group as a manufacturer of electric wires and cables-components essential for ensuring a stable power supply, as well as reliable equipment for the information and communications industry-while striving to develop and refine the new communication and transmission technologies demanded by the information and energy sectors.

Today, Hitachi Cable offers a wide range of products and services, including products ranging from electric wires, cables, and copper products to electronic materials, automobile parts, and even information network devices and system integration solutions. Its long continued expansion of operations internationally has given Hitachi Cable production and sales bases in 44 locations around the world, with the concomitant capacity to support client operations from a truly global perspective.

Message From the President

On July 1st 2013, Hitachi Cable, Ltd. will integrate with Hitachi Metals, Ltd., taking its first step as a new company.
Since its spin-off from Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Cable has remained committed to developing products and services to provide even greater speed, accuracy and efficiency in the areas of power and information transmission, thereby contributing to the development of society over the past half century. At present, we are implementing strategies for the reinforcement of the management foundation, business structure reforms and global growth to emerge as a highly profitable enterprise. However, we must admit that external conditions have drastically changed in recent years and competition is expected to be further intensified in the market segments in which we conduct business.

In order to respond properly to the changes in operating conditions and to attain sustained global growth over the next half century, we have decided on business integration with Hitachi Metals. The two companies plan to expand business domains, accelerate global expansion, and make our operations more efficient and of higher quality by combining business resources, devising business proposals that leverage the products and technologies of both companies, effectively utilizing our domestic and overseas facilities, and learning business processes and knowhow from each other. To this end, Hitachi Cable will work on the following items.

First, during fiscal 2012, which is the final year of the Medium-term Management Plan, Renewed Plan "BRIDGE," we will accomplish the goals set forth in the plan, reinforcing management foundations and reforming business structure. We will meet the Medium-term Management Plan goals to successfully bring about the integration with Hitachi Metals and to expand our businesses even further. Across our businesses, we will undertake selection and concentration of product groups, establish a globally optimized operating structure, accelerate overseas expansion with a view to collaborating with local partners, and cultivate promising markets.

In addition, we will reaffirm our commitment to practicing the Basics and Ethics. As a member of society, we will thoroughly fulfill our corporate social responsibilities (CSR) in compliance, environmental protection, safety, respect for human rights and information security management, thereby ensuring sincere and honest corporate management.
