Information about the Company

Odessa cable plant Odeskabel was founded in 1949.

Through the years of its development, the plant has become an undoubted leader in the production of communication cables in Ukraine and one of the leading cable manufacturers in the CIS.

Specializing in the telecommunication cables production, Odessa cable plant has mastered and been producing a wide range of copper, fiber optic, and radiofrequency cables, as well as digital or LAN-cables, being called-for during the last decade and the variety of which is the widest in the CIS. In addition to this, Odeskabel PJSC offers its consumers power cables, wires and cords for various purposes.

Now, the plant keeps on developing successfully, exploring new trends and aiming to take leading positions in them. Recently, the company has introduced a number of innovations, one of which is the production of heating cables being the basis for "heat-insulated floor" systems.

Today, the plant's product range totals more than 3000 wire and cable types.

For many years, the priority in Odeskabel's development has been production of high-quality prod-ucts at competitive prices, which has become the company's market attraction guarantee.

Odessa cable plant Odeskabel has developed and implemented an integrated management system according to four international standards, namely: Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2008), Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2004), Safety and Labor Hygiene Management System (OHSAS 18001:2007), and Social Responsibility Management System (SA 8000:2008). This means that the level of industrial engineering and management of Odeskabel PJSC completely meets international standards.

The main Odeskabel's consumers are companies specializing in telecommunications, power engi-neering, building, machinery construction, mining, and other fields. In Ukraine, the plant's products are consumed by the biggest telecoms operators such as "Ukrtelecom", "MTS", "Kyivstar", "Bee-line", "Intertelecom", the group of companies "Vega", nuclear power plants, the railway, "Ukren-ergo", "Ukrtransnafta", "Ukrtatnafta", "Neftegas", "Krivorozhstal", and others.

For clients' convenience, Odeskabel has representative offices in 10 Ukrainian cities.

The plant not only meets the home market demand in cable products, but also exports them success-fully. In 2011, the company exported about 50% of its products. The main Odeskabel's export des-tinations are Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and European Union countries, which confirms the company's competitiveness in the global market.

Odeskabel PJSC is an active member of the main cablemakers associations, namely:
- The Ukrainian Corporation "Ukrelektrokabel" (Kiev, Ukraine);
- The Non-commercial Cable Manufactures Partnership "International Association "Elektro-kabel" (Moscow, Russia);
- The Interkabel Association (Moscow, Russia);
- The International Cablemakers Federation (Vienna, Austria).
This membership allows Odeskabel to be an up-to-date, innovative and high-tech enterprise being able to track new global cable market trends and promptly respond to them.

For many years, Odeskabel PJSC has been focusing on the products quality and competitive prices, production modernization and expansion, high skilled personnel and management organization ac-cording to the world standards. Such development vector allows Odeskabel not only to be a fair leader in its field, but one of the master companies of the country.


Historical Reference

Many modern Odessa enterprises were starting their activities as long ago as at the end of the XIXth century. However, most of them are far from the success achieved by Odessa Cable Plant. Being initially private workshops producing low voltage cords the plant turned into a state-of-the-art enterprise ranking as one of the leaders on the whole post-Soviet territory

The official date of the plant's foundation is 9 April 1949.

During the 1950s the plant was starting its growth and expansion. In May 1959, a production of wires for industrial demolition works was launched – the first products with Polyvinylchloride insulation. During those years the plant was specializing in the production of urban cables with the number of pairs reaching 600. At the same time, the construction of a new production building was started allowing to extend the range of products in the future.

During the 1960s Odeskabel was rapidly growing building new production facilities and launching new equipment. And exactly during those years the two main plant's products were defined: cables for urban telephone networks and radio-frequency cables. Within that period Odeskabel mounted NOKIA Automated Lines (Finland) for the production of telephone conductors, introduced an industrial control system, installed modern twisting machines, renovated its extrusion lines. All those measures allowed passing on to new performance standards.

At the end of the 1970s the plant started serial production of urban telephone cables with the number of pairs up to 1200, and for the first time in the USSR Odeskabel manufactured a 2400-pair cable.

During the 1980s Odeskabel continued its development. A very important step for the plant was launching the production of fiber optic communication cables being a major trend today.

In 1996 Odeskabel was transformed into a public corporation (a joint-stock company) "Odessa Cable Works "Odeskabel" JSC. After the election of Mr. Dmitry Iorgachov as Chairman of the Board and General Manager the plant's market strategy was formed very clear: quality is uppermost. Shortly the plant introduced ISO 9002:94 Quality Management System, and in 2002 – ISO 9001:2000 strictly regulating the production process.

Today, Odeskabel is the leader of domestic cable industry being one of the 50 biggest world cable manufacturers. The plant is able to completely satisfy the demand of Ukraine and the CIS in wires and cables, and exports about 20% of the products.

ELEKTROKABEL Plant was established on the basis of several private workshops.
1949
ОSeveral state workshops were organised to produce cables and wires – the year of Odeskabel's foundation.
1960s
Specializing in the production of urban telecommunication cables.
1972
Launching NOKIA automatic lines for phone conductors production.
late 1970s
Mastering serial production of urban telephone cables with up to 2,400 pairs.
1986
Launching NOKIA ATKT-100 fully automated complex.
1990
Starting up a workshop for fiber optic cables production on the basis of NOKIA-MAILEFFER equipment.
1996
The plant was reorganized into an open joint stock company, beginning of privatization.
1999
Introduction and deployment of ISO 9002 Quality Management System.
2000
Odeskabel became a fully non-state enterprise. End of the privatization.
2001
A new workshop for LAN-cables production was put into operation.
2001
Three leading Odeskabel's specialists were given the Ukrainian State Award for a complex of scientific research, design, and technological projects for the deployment of high technology in production of fiber optic cables.
2002
Introduction and deployment of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System.
2002
   A new workshop for production of oxygen-free copper rods was started up.
2004    
Odeskabel introduced and started applying the standards:

­ - ISO 14001:1996 – Environment Management Systems;

­ - OHSAS 18001:1999 – Industrial Safety Management Systems;

­ - SA 8000:2001 – Social Responsibility Management Systems.
2005
Installation and launching a new production line for indoor fiber optic cables.
2006
   Design of production lines to manufacture new generation xDSL cables.

2007
   Launching of the new workshop producing power cables for the voltage up to 1 kV.

2008
   Start of serial production of heating cables and raising the rate of LAN-cables production.
2009   
Launching production of power cables for the voltage up to 10 kV, timed to Odeskabel's 60th anniversary.
The plant's test laboratory was certified at the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine.
2011
   Odeskabel mastered production of power cables for the voltage up to 35 kV.
A modern test station for power cables for the voltage up to 35 kV was certified by the State Standard of the Ukraine and put into operation.
